Uzbekistan's national team gymnast, Oksana Chusovitina, has secured a spot in the finals at the Artistic Gymnastics World Cup in Cottbus, Germany, after an impressive performance on the first day of the competition, the press service on the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan reports.
Strong Representation from Uzbekistan
On February 22, five gymnasts from Uzbekistan competed for places in the finals across various disciplines. These included Oksana Chusovitina (vault), Dildora Aripova (vault and uneven bars), Odina Robizhonova (uneven bars), Abdulaziz Mirvaliev (floor exercise), and Khumoyun Islomov (floor exercise).
Of the Uzbekistan national team, only Oksana Chusovitina succeeded in securing a spot in the finals, specifically in the vault category. On February 24, she will vie for medals in this event. Chusovitina expressed her gratitude to her supporters on her Instagram page upon announcing her advancement to the finals.
Oksana Chusovitina is a Uzbekistani artistic gymnast. Chusovitina's career as an elite gymnast has spanned more than three decades. She won the USSR Junior Nationals in 1988 and began competing at the international level in 1989 before many of her current rivals were even born. Born in 1975, she is currently 48 years old.

Today marks the second day of the Artistic Gymnastics World Cup in Cottbus. Uzbek gymnasts set to compete in the qualifying stage include Rasulzhon Abdurakhimov (bars), Dildora Aripova (freestyle and balance beam), and Odina Robizhonova (floor program and balance beam).
The ongoing competition in Cottbus boasts participation from 317 athletes representing 70 countries, highlighting the global scale and significance of the Artistic Gymnastics World Cup.
