The Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan has announced that agricultural land plots will now be leased through electronic auctions. This change, effective from March 1, 2024, is a departure from the previously practiced electronic competition.
Lease Terms
The land plots will be leased for a period of 30 years. The initial price for the lease is set at the level of the standard cost of land. Winners of the online electronic auctions are permitted to pay the land rent for three years in equal monthly installments.
Special Provisions for Certain Citizens
For farming, individual gardening, vegetable gardening, and livestock farming, citizens included in the “Iron Notebook”, “Women’s Notebook” and “Youth Notebook” will have the opportunity to pay the cost of the land plot in interest-free installments over a period of five years.
Transfer of Lease Rights
Starting from March 1, tenants of agricultural land plots will have the right to transfer their rights and obligations for lease to another person without changing the purpose of using the land.
State Registration of Agricultural Lands
By the end of this year, agricultural lands that have not passed state registration but are used in practice will be returned to the state reserve or the rights to lease them will be officially registered.
