Korzinka, the largest retail chain in Uzbekistan, is set to undergo a significant leadership transition, with the appointment of Rud Pedersen as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective January 1, 2024, Korzinka reported.
Rud Pedersen initially joined Korzinka in August 2022 as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). During his tenure as CFO, Pedersen played a key role in orchestrating the transformation of Korzinka's financial management, showcasing his adeptness in steering the company through financial intricacies.
With the commencement of the new year, Pedersen's role will expand significantly as he takes on the responsibilities of the CEO. In this elevated position, he will be at the helm of operations and will play a crucial role in implementing the company's strategic initiatives and future vision.
Zafar Khashimov, founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Korzinka, expressed confidence in Pedersen's abilities and values alignment with the company. In a statement, Khashimov said,

While Pedersen takes on the role of CEO, Akmal Asadov, the previous acting general director, will continue his involvement with Korzinka as the deputy general director.
Established in 1996, Korzinka stands as the frontrunner in the retail sector in Uzbekistan. Presently, the company brings together 139 stores spanning 12 regions across the country. These include Korzinka supermarkets, Korzinka Mahalla neighborhood stores, Smart convenience stores, the Korzinka Business wholesale store, and the online supermarket service, Korzinka Go.
Rud Pedersen, boasting 27 years of expertise in finance and retail within major international corporations, assumed the role of CFO at Korzinka in 2022. Prior to this, he served in a comparable capacity at the Russian hypermarket chain Lenta. Throughout his career, Pedersen has held key positions at renowned entities such as Carlsberg Eastern Europe, Cadbury (Russia), AstraZeneca (Belgium), Levi Strauss (Belgium), IC Group (Denmark), and Deloitte (Denmark). He is a graduate of Aarhus School of Business (Denmark), holding a Master's degree in International Business Management and Corporate Law, and also holds an EMBA from London Business School (UK).
