the Taliban has extended the contract for purchasing electricity from Uzbekistan. The pivotal document was officially signed by Muhammad Hanif Hamza, the head of Afghanistan's DABS energy company, and Dadajon Isokulov, Chairman of the Board of the National Electric Networks of Uzbekistan, Sputnik reports.
The signing ceremony, attended by key representatives from both nations, solidified the commitment to sustaining the electricity partnership. Muhammad Hanif Hamza and Dadajon Isokulov put pen to paper in a symbolic move that underlines the importance of bilateral cooperation in the energy sector.
During discussions with Jorabek Mirzamakhmudov, the head of the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan, the Taliban emphasized the urgent need for an increased energy supply to mitigate the ongoing shortage in Afghanistan. The meeting delved into strategic measures to bolster the flow of electricity and meet the rising demand.
Against the backdrop of a significant reduction in electricity supply from Uzbekistan, as reported by Afghanistan's DABS company on December 3, the recent extension of the contract aims to ensure a stable and uninterrupted flow of energy. The initial decrease in supply was attributed to essential repairs in Uzbekistan's energy infrastructure, which have now been successfully completed, restoring the export levels to normal.
