According to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Turkmenistan plans to launch a pilot project of 5G mobile technology in the new city of Arkadag in the near future. This was reported by the joint stock company "Ashgabat City Telephone Network".
Arkadag is the only city on the map of Central Asia where all life-support systems are fully controlled by electronic systems. Thousands of sensors are installed in 'smart' residential areas where everything is controlled by IT solutions. They require multiple switching systems.
"5G communication networks meet these requirements. The "Turkmenaragatnashyk" Agency (Turkmentelecom) and the mobile communications company "Altyn Asyr" are working in this direction".
In the future, 5G communication networks could be deployed in the tourist zone of Avaza and the city of Turkmenbashi, where a major seaport is located, as well as in other regional centres, including the capital.
