Tajikistan and Latvia Relations
Formalizing diplomatic ties on May 11, 1994, the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Latvia have since fostered a robust relationship. Key political milestones include President Emomali Rahmon's pivotal state visit to Latvia in February 2009 and reciprocal visits by President Valdis Zatlers to Tajikistan in July 2009 and President Andris Berjins in June 2014. Notably, the renaming of the "Peak of Soviet Latvia" to the "Peak of Latvia" on February 2, 2009, marked a symbolic decision by the Tajikistan government.
Political consultations commenced on April 4, 2014, and economic collaboration gained traction with the inaugural meeting of the Tajik-Latvian Joint Committee on November 30, 2013. Anchoring the partnership are 13 signed documents comprising the legal framework between the two nations.
