    Uzbekistan and OSCE strengthen collaboration on press freedom and joint projects

    In a diplomatic development, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Gayrat Fozilov, engaged in a fruitful dialogue with the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, Teresa Ribeiro, on November 17.

    The meeting underscored the positive trajectory of Uzbekistan's collaboration with various OSCE institutions, particularly the Office of the Representative on Freedom of the Media. Both parties expressed satisfaction with the notable advancements made in recent years, reaching a new pinnacle of cooperation.

    During the discussions, Deputy Minister Fozilov and Representative Ribeiro explored avenues for further expanding their collaboration in areas of mutual interest. Emphasizing the importance of press freedom and responsible journalism, the officials deliberated on proposals aimed at fostering an environment conducive to free and independent media.

    A key highlight of the meeting was the shared commitment to implement joint projects that would enhance the professional skills of journalists in Uzbekistan. This initiative reflects the parties' dedication to promoting journalistic excellence and facilitating an informed public discourse within the country.

    The exchange of views also extended to the broader scope of activities conducted by the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and its various institutions. Both Uzbekistan and the OSCE expressed a shared interest in refining and improving the mechanisms that underpin the organization's effectiveness.

    The diplomatic encounter concluded with Deputy Minister Fozilov and Representative Ribeiro expressing optimism about the future trajectory of their collaboration, reaffirming their commitment to shared values and objectives.
