In a bid to enhance employment opportunities for unemployed women in Uzbekistan, the government has introduced a state grant program. Saodat Boymirzayeva, the head of the Family and Women's Committee's press service, announced that entrepreneurs are invited to submit project proposals and relevant documents for consideration at neighborhood meetings until November 25.
Under this initiative, business entities can receive a state grant of UZS 3mn ($244) for each unemployed woman. The grants are intended to support projects focused on women's employment, health promotion, and vocational training. Specifically, the grants aim to facilitate the permanent employment of up to 20 women within the framework of a single social project. The total allocation for such projects is capped at a specified amount.
Project submissions presented during community meetings will undergo evaluation by district-city working groups until November 28, adhering to the requirements outlined in the Regulation sanctioned by the Cabinet of Ministers.
By November 30, regional administrations will formally request the allocation of a state grant from the Family and Women's Committee. The submitted projects will then undergo a thorough review by the Republican Commission, with a final decision expected by December 15.
Pending the Commission's approval, the subsequent state grant will be disbursed from the funds of the Family and Women's Support State Fund by December 20, 2023. This initiative, initiated in 2022, marks a strategic effort to allocate state grants of up to UZS 3mn ($244) to entrepreneurs for each unemployed woman, guaranteeing their employment in Uzbekistan.
