'Dok-1 Max' case update: Another official receives $45,000 for selling 3 indian medicines in Uzbekistan

During the ongoing criminal case related to the "Dok-1 Max" syrup and its ointments, which are suspected to have caused the deaths of 65 children in Uzbekistan, new allegations of corruption have surfaced.

In the latest court session on October 20, a witness revealed that another Uzbek official demanded an additional $45,000 in addition to the standard registration fee for three Indian-manufactured medicines. This revelation was made by a correspondent from "Daryo" who was present in the courtroom.

According to the witness, the money was handed over in installments – $20,000 twice and $25,000 once. In exchange, he received certificates for the medicines, and there were no discrepancies found in these certificates.

Reportedly, the money was received by the head of the registration department at the State Center for the Examination and Standardization of Medicines, Medical Devices, and Medical Equipment, Sh.Sh. He denied these allegations, claiming that the witness was providing false information and denied ever receiving the money.

In previous court sessions, it was alleged that the manufacturer of the "Dok-1 Max" syrup had offered a $33,000 bribe for the importation of the drug "Kuraraks" into Uzbekistan. C.R.P., the director of Kuramax Medical LLC, initially admitted to providing $33,000 to an individual named J.E. to halt an inspection at Marion Biotech Pvt.'s facility. However, he later recanted this statement, with J.E. confirming that the $33,000 had indeed been provided to him by the manufacturer's representative, and he subsequently delivered the money to Sh.Sh., the head of the registration department at the State Center for the Examination and Standardization of Medicines, Medical Devices, and Medical Equipment.

During a court hearing on September 15, Sh.Sh. contradicted the claim that he had refused the $33,000, which he was told had been given to him. It had previously been reported that another Indian manufacturer had received an upfront payment of $50,000 and had demanded $88,000 for the re-registration of 11 medicines.
