Former U.S. President George W. Bush recently recounted a personal anecdote where he expressed his dismay at Russian President Vladimir Putin's derisive comment about his beloved dog. Bush shared this recollection during his virtual participation in the "Yalta Conference" held in Kyiv.
He recounted the incident, saying, "He spotted my terrier and remarked, 'Is that a dog?'" Bush continued, stating that Putin then extended an invitation to showcase his own dog in Moscow.
Bush accepted the offer and gestured toward his larger dog, suggesting that it would easily outshine his terrier. To his surprise, he was informed that this response was considered an affront. Putin queried, "Why?" George Bush reminisced about this encounter.
As per the words of the former U.S. president, this episode sheds light on Putin's character. Bush remarked that Putin consistently seeks to assert his strength, even though he perceived Russia as a weakened nation, leading to a sense of resentment towards the rest of the world.
Moreover, Bush asserted that he once looked into Putin's eyes and discerned his true nature. He described Putin as being afflicted by a desire for power and wealth, characterizing the Russian leader as such.
