A sudden power outage caused by an accident at the Kuylyuk substation led to a temporary disruption of power supply at Tashkent International Airport on August 27, Uzbekistan Airport reported. The incident occurred at 22:09 local time, resulting in a brief interruption in the airport's operations.
Despite the power outage, swift actions were taken to ensure minimal disruption to the airport's functioning. Backup power sources were activated within seconds, providing power to critical facilities responsible for flight operations, including runways, air traffic control systems, and radio navigation equipment. This prompt response allowed the airport to avoid any flight delays and maintain the smooth flow of air traffic.
In addition to the flight-related facilities, the arrivals terminal and the domestic airlines terminal were rapidly switched to reserve power sources, preventing any major inconvenience to passengers. The power supply to the departure terminal for international airlines was reinstated by 22:24, just 15 minutes after the initial outage.
At 22:40, the accident at the Kuylyuk substation was successfully resolved, leading to the full restoration of power at Tashkent International Airport. The collaborative efforts of airport personnel and technical teams ensured that the disruption was swiftly addressed and the normal functioning of the airport was resumed.
