President Shavkat Mirziyoyev learned about the activities of the Biochemical Institute at Samarkand State University, as reported by the press service of the president.
The university comprises several institutes, including the Institute of Agrobiotechnology and Food Security, Institute of Engineering Physics, Research Institute of Turkology, and the Biochemical Institute.
Established this year, the Biochemical Institute emerged from the university's biology and chemistry faculties. Seven new buildings were constructed for the institute after construction work.
The President inspected the facilities, including the classrooms, greenhouse, and research laboratories. He engaged in discussions with professors and lecturers.
Researchers shared their plans for developing new types of selective-action anti-tumor drugs through chemical transformation of oncological medicines, according to the press release.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev provided directives for organizing foreign internships for institute staff, advancing pharmaceutical and chemical production, and creating new varieties of cotton, grapes, and wheat.
