President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, engaging in an open dialogue with business figures, highlighted a significant avenue for boosting exports through the involvement of renowned foreign brands in Uzbekistan, his press secretary reports.
The president emphasized that around 50 of the world's most prominent brands, with an annual market value surpassing $100bn, have expressed keen interest in collaborating with Uzbek enterprises. Substantial discussions were held with leading brands from Spain, Germany, Poland, and Turkey. These global players are poised to place orders, totaling $3bn, with Uzbekistan's domestic companies.
This strategic move is expected to address three pivotal challenges, namely:
Elevating Production Standards: The introduction of international standards, environmental considerations, and certification requirements into production processes. This entails training local enterprise specialists in alignment with these demands.
Enhancing Work Conditions: The creation of respectable working environments for laborers within local enterprises.
- Facilitating Customs Procedures: The establishment of a favorable customs regime for both the import and export of products associated with these reputable brands.
To encourage such collaborations, a grant of $4,140 (UZS 50mn) will be allocated to enterprises successfully attracting these prominent brands.
President Mirziyoyev singled out the "Fazman Textile" enterprise in Namangan as the initial recipient of this grant, for its successful engagement with the German brand "Diesel". Likewise, the "Sino International" enterprise in Andijan, which managed to secure a partnership with the American brand Nike, will also benefit from this incentive.
In previous remarks, President Mirziyoyev shared that inspections conducted in 1H 2023 had decreased by 40% compared to the corresponding period in the previous year. He underscored a noteworthy surge in the number of small entrepreneurs by 40,000 over the past year, with medium-sized entrepreneurs increasing by 2,000 to reach 10,000. Larger enterprises also saw growth, expanding by 400 to a total of 1,500 within a single year.
The President also underscored that Uzbekistan's economic growth cannot solely rely on the sale of oil and gas resources, a path taken by some other nations. This emphasizes the nation's broader commitment to diversifying its economic foundations.
