The Deputy Foreign Minister of the Taliban, Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanikzai, acknowledged that there are still contradictions within the group concerning women's education, Sputnik reports.
He made these remarks on Ashura ( a day of commemoration in Islam) and expressed his hope that these contradictions can be resolved, allowing girls to have unrestricted access to schools and universities once again.
Stanikzai also urged the population of the country to shift their negative attitudes towards women's education to a more positive outlook. However, he emphasized that such changes will take time, stating that women will eventually be able to receive a comprehensive education, "whether it happens today, tomorrow, or the day after."
Addressing another issue, Stanikzai also discussed the problem of UAVs from the United States and neighboring countries violating Afghan airspace without any repercussions for the Taliban. He highlighted the need for the country to progress and strengthen itself to a level where it can defend against such violations.
Moreover, this is at least the fourth time Stanikzai has spoken about the importance of allowing women equal rights to education according to Shariah law. Despite the ongoing contradictions within the Taliban, he consistently advocates for gender equality in education.
