Uzbekistan, along with six other countries, is set to receive funding of $22.2mn aimed at enhancing the energy efficiency of buildings, UN reports.
The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, in collaboration with its partners, has initiated a significant project to boost energy efficiency within the construction industry across Eastern Europe and Central Asia. The primary objective is to facilitate the construction of high-performance buildings in these nations.
The project's core idea is to improve the energy efficiency of materials and equipment used in the building construction process, thus creating optimal conditions for constructing high-performance buildings. This encompasses the production of construction materials and equipment, all of which are essential components in the initial stages before the actual building construction commences.
Oleg Dzioubinsky, the UN Security Council's regional advisor, emphasized the ongoing preliminary stage, during which a comprehensive project proposal is being developed for the donor.
The beneficiary countries participating in the project include Armenia, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan. Germany serves as the donor, with an impressive financing amount of nearly $22.2mn allocated for the project.
The funding will be distributed among the participating nations to support and advance their energy-efficient building initiatives.
