A resident of a village in western Kazakhstan has posted a message claiming a "mass death of people" in the village of Khan Ordasy in the Bokeyordinsky district. the villagers allegedly died under unexplained circumstances, zakon.kz has reported.
As the post's author mentions on their Facebook page, around 10 people, most of whom were under 50 years old, have died in the village under unexplained circumstances in the past 10-15 days. The author expresses outrage, questioning why this situation is not causing concern and pointing out the village's remote location, 600 kilometers away from Uralsk, with poor road conditions possibly leading to delayed medical check-ups. They highlight the contrast between investigations launched when livestock dies en masse, but seemingly not when it involves people.
However, the press service of the healthcare department has refuted this information. Specialists stated that the statistics presented in the post do not fully correspond to reality.
During a similar period in 2022, 13 people died in the village. Aygul Kulbarakova, the head of the medical care organization department of the healthcare department in West Kazakhstan, clarified that 14 people have died in the village since the beginning of 2023, and the causes of death have been determined.
"One had pancreatic cancer, the other died from asphyxia while eating. Another person was in Atyrau at the time of their death. Another had come to the village in March from Russia. One person died in a traffic accident with a skull base fracture. Three individuals suffered from chronic ischemic heart disease. One had liver cirrhosis, another was registered with arterial hypertension and diabetes, taking medication. However, they did not follow the doctor's recommendations and, after consuming alcohol, were taken to the regional multidisciplinary hospital, where they received treatment but passed away on June 30th at the medical facility," said Aygul Kulbarakova.
