Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov has called upon the member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) to establish a bank within the organization, Sputnik reports.
Japarov presented this proposal during the 23rd SCO summit, which was chaired by India. He suggested that mutual settlements among SCO members be conducted using their national currencies. The Kyrgyzstan president emphasized that this initiative would contribute to deepening cooperation and fostering the development of the member countries.
Japarov further highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts in enhancing transportation infrastructure across all modes of transport within the SCO region. He expressed that leveraging the transit potential would significantly contribute to the economic growth of the region.
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko voiced his full support for the establishment of the SCO Development Bank, aligning with Japarov's proposal.
