Kazakhstan's Ministry of Labor and Social Protection has recently disclosed that the Turkestan region has successfully adapted 517 social infrastructure facilities to ensure the legal rights of individuals with disabilities, media reports.
A total of 159 of the abovementioned facilities are now fully equipped to cater to all categories of people with special needs. This progress has been achieved through the implementation of the National Plan, the Road Map of the party 'Amanat,' and the project 'Kedergisiz keleshek,' which aim to improve the quality of life and protect the rights of persons with disabilities until 2025. The project has identified 22,000 priorities for facility adaptations in the country, with 4,400 objects being adapted annually between 2021 and 2025. As of June 1, 2021, 9,128 objects have already been adjusted.
Within the Turkestan region, 1,294 facilities will be adapted to accommodate all persons with disabilities over five years. Out of the 776 facilities planned for adaptation between 2021 and 2023, the local authorities have already taken measures to adapt 517 facilities.
The territorial Department of the Labour and Social Protection Committee of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Turkestan Region has confirmed that complete adaptation has been carried out in 159 facilities during the 'Post-Control' inspections. This means that 63 public institutions, 28 health facilities, 17 educational facilities, and other public infrastructures are now accessible to all categories of persons with disabilities in the region.
