On June 20, TASS reported that Uzbekistan exported $118.6mn in gas to China in five months, citing official PRC customs statistics.
Blue fuel export revenue fell by 60.7% compared to the same time in 2022. The customs department did not offer information on the physical volume of pipeline supplies.
Uzbekistan's gas entered the Chinese market in May for $78.16mn. This is about double what it was in April, but it is still far behind what it was in May of last year (when monthly revenue was the highest for the year - $161.5mn).
Turkmenistan is still China's major supplier of pipeline gas, having earned $4.25bn for it since the beginning of the year, which is 13.5% more than the same period last year. China spent over $730mn on Turkmenistan's petroleum in May alone.
Russia is in second place with $2.8bn, having more than doubled supplies. May deliveries accounted for more than half of the previous month's amount - $ 1.05bn. Myanmar rounds out the top three with $ 630.5 bn (+ 23%).
Kazakhstan likewise curtailed its exports of blue fuel to its eastern neighbor's market. Revenue in this region was only $300.1mn for five months, or a quarter less than last year.
Earlier, Daryo reported that Russian Gazprom would supply Uzbekistan with almost 3 bn cubic metres of gas per year.
