Movenpick hotel group will take over the management of the renowned International Hotel Tashkent. The agreement was signed by the hotel group Accor and InterHotel company Gazeta.uz reports.
The first five-star hotel in Uzbekistan was opened near the Tashkent Television Tower in 1997 under the InterContinental brand. In May 2012, this hotel brand left Uzbekistan (at the end of 2022, the company opened a new hotel in the capital).
Under the new brand, the hotel will aim to provide guests with "the highest standards of service, wellness facilities, gastronomy, and family leisure, as well as additional advantages through the global loyalty program ALL - Accor Live Limitless," Accor said in a press release.
"The tourism infrastructure in Uzbekistan is rapidly developing, and we are confident that the opening of the Mövenpick Hotel Tashkent will be another advantage for international travelers and residents of the capital, who will appreciate Swiss hospitality in the heart of Tashkent," commented Alexis Delaroff, CEO of Accor New East Europe.
"The rebranding of the International Hotel Tashkent complex will not only strengthen our position in the hotel services market but also help provide our guests with improved conditions for relaxation, conferences, and events of various levels," said Sardor Malikov, Director of InterHotel.
The highly anticipated opening of Mövenpick Hotel Tashkent is scheduled for the end of 2023. The hotel will feature 174 rooms across various categories, ranging from standard to suites, a SPA center with a swimming pool and fitness gym, conference rooms, and two multifunctional spaces designed for events and corporate gatherings for up to 500 people. The restaurant menu will include signature Swiss dishes served in all Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts chains.
Accor, established in 1967, operates a network of 5,400 hotels in more than 100 countries under various brands (over 40). There is a Mövenpick hotel in Samarkand under the Mövenpick brand, further solidifying its presence in Uzbekistan. The group also manages Mercure hotels in Tashkent and Bukhara, contributing to the country's growing tourism landscape.
