Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with Kristalina Georgieva, the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), in Samarkand on June 6.
The President's press service reports that the discussions centered on various aspects of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the IMF, with a particular focus on key areas such as achieving macroeconomic stability and implementing reforms to enhance monetary and credit policies, as well as fiscal policies.
It was emphasized that cooperation with the IMF has become increasingly active in recent years. Over 70 missions from the fund have visited Uzbekistan during this period, contributing to expanding expert-technical support.
Kristalina Georgiyeva, the head of the IMF, expressed full support for the comprehensive reform program in the "New Uzbekistan" and expressed a willingness to continue supporting its implementation. Additionally, they exchanged views on current global economic issues and sustainable development.
Following the visit to Samarkand, the president returned to Tashkent.
