In the first quarter of 2023, mutual trade between Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan totaled $110.5mn, up 6% from a year earlier, according to the Kazakh embassy in Turkmenistan.
The two countries are neighbours on the Caspian Sea, with a total land border of 458,263km.
At the end of 2022, the level of total trade was $438.2mn, compared to $254.3mn in 2021 and $127.9mn in 2020. Last year, as in the previous two years, there was a surplus in favor of Kazakhstan, which exported $340.2mn and imported $98mn.
Kazakhstan's main exports to Turkmenistan are grain, flour, ferrous metals; chemical and mineral fertilisers and non-metallic ores. Imports to Kazakhstan include citrus fruits, tomatoes, mineral, chemical and textile products.
