The Ukrainian flag hung on the balcony of an apartment in the Mirzo Ulugbek district of Tashkent city was removed by a special crane, BBC Uzbek edition reports.

According to the source, the incident happened on May 24 around 18:00. The owner of the house, Rejep Latipov, said that there was no one in the house at the time of the incident, he and his wife were in Turkey. About three hours before the removal of the flag, a person who introduced himself as an employee of the Mirzo Ulugbek district intelligence service reportedly called Latipov.

"If I'm not mistaken, he introduced himself as Murad from the criminal investigation department. He asked if this house belongs to me. He also asked whether you or your wife are citizens of Ukraine. I said no. Then he asked why there was a Ukrainian flag on my balcony," says the owner of the apartment.

The house owner said that he was born in Chernivtsi, Ukraine, but permanently lives and works in Uzbekistan. He said that he kept the Ukrainian flag in his house not only because he was born in Ukraine, but also because he was seriously against the war started by Russia.
