Uzbekistan Airports has announced that it will receive up to €28mn in long-term financing from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to upgrade special equipment at international airports in Uzbekistan.
The funds will be used to purchase new airport vehicles such as apron buses, baggage tractors, and de-icing machines.
A total of 76 new airport vehicles will be purchased with EBRD funding.
Additionally, agreements were reached on allocating grants worth more than €1mn, with an international consulting company to be brought in to optimize key business processes and increase operational efficiency.
This marks the first example of such cooperation between the EBRD and a state-owned company in Uzbekistan without government guarantees, the message reads.
