On May 3, Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the CEOs of important enterprises and financial organizations as part of his visit to Germany, his press service reports.
The Eastern Committee of the German Economy, the German-Uzbekistan Business Council, the German Energy Agency, CLAAS, Knauf, Siemens Energy, Lasselsberger, and others, as well as heads of around 30 of the largest companies and banks, including Landesbank, Commerzbank, KfW Bank, and Deutsche Bank, attended the event.
Mirziyoyev stated at the meeting that strong trust and mutual respect had been built in ties with Germany. With the cooperation of German partners, more than 60 projects totaling more than €5bn are being developed in Uzbekistan.
In recent years, German investment has surpassed €4bn, and the number of partnership agreements has more than doubled.
The President also stated that the German-Uzbekistan Business Council, which is led by Uzbekistan's Prime Minister, has grown into an essential instrument for continuous coordination of cooperation. Business circles are expected to play a key role in carrying out major deals achieved throughout this visit as well as future objectives.
Within the context of the Uzbek-German business forum held on May 2, new trade, finance, and investment agreements worth €9bn were signed on the development of industrial cooperation and the broadening of technological collaboration. Significant initiatives in "green" energy, transportation infrastructure development, metallurgy, water supply, agriculture, chemistry, mining, car, textile, electrical engineering industry, and other fields are included.
It is intended to strengthen collaboration in banking and finance, including project financing with the top German banks such as Deutsche Bank, Commerzbank, KfW, and Landesbank. In an era of large-scale and substantial upheavals in the global economy, Mirziyoyev stated that Uzbekistan is ready to become an effective and trustworthy location for German industry.
The gathering revealed the German corporate society's strong interest in the expansion of collaboration.
During the forum, delegates of the German business community emphasized the practical significance of the reforms carried out in Uzbekistan, noting that this will help German businesses realize their most ambitious and long-term plans for investment in Uzbekistan.
Mirziyoyev expressed gratitude to the German business representatives for their current efforts and requested that the heads of relevant ministries and agencies authorize the "road map" that adopts the joint development of missions and the execution of the contracts inked during the visit.
