India's population has reached 1.425bn people, overtaking China by 200,000 people, Bloomberg reports. The UN previously predicted that this would happen in 2023.
India came in first place with about 23mn births in 2022, while China's population began to decline for the first time in six decades, with about 9.56mn newborns in 2022.
Chinese students were reportedly given a vacation to "fall in love" from April 1 to April 7. The authorities plan to increase the birth rate this way.
As homework, the students were asked to keep travel diaries, make crafts and make videos of their travels.
