Unison Group has announced that Kyrgyzstan will soon launch a pilot program for voluntary eco-certification in the tourism industry, 24.kg reports.
The initiative, presented by Technopolis Group and discussed by experts in green technologies, aims to recognize products and services with a lower environmental impact than comparable offerings. Similar schemes are already in use in countries such as Egypt, Japan, and various European nations.
The eco-certification will be offered to 20 hotels, restaurants, and cafes after they undergo an eco-audit and receive a quality mark that can be verified in a database.
