North Korea is ready to conduct a nuclear test "at any time", Yonhap reports referring to South Korea's Defense Minister Lee Jong-sup.
According to South Korea's defense minister, Washington, and Seoul have prepared retaliatory measures to demonstrate the alliance's "strong will". These include joint force demonstrations using US strategic assets, Lee Jong-sup said.
The purpose of the nuclear test could be the "final technological check" needed for mass production and rapid deployment of nuclear warheads, he said in a report to the South Korean parliament's defense committee.
North Korea conducted its last nuclear test in 2017. Pyongyang has conducted a total of six nuclear tests.
