UNODC, Uzbekistan discuss efforts in combating drug trafficking

    20 March, 14:00 2417

Uzbekistan's delegation has participated in the Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) regular session, Dunyo reports.

According to the country's diplomatic mission in Vienna, the meeting with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) discussed measures to combat drug trafficking locally and ensure cross-border cooperation. Besides, the Uzbek delegation chaired a side event on efforts to consolidate a drug-free world.

Speakers noted the importance of the joint efforts of UNODC and Uzbekistan in combating drug trafficking and preserving peace in the Central Asian region. The increase in drug seizures was highlighted as an indication of the joint efforts of the Republic's law enforcement agencies within the framework of the UNODC drug control and control programs.

UNODC officials thanked the Uzbek colleagues for supporting the new Afghanistan Drug Monitoring Research Centre and noted the country's importance and international cooperation with civil society and the private sector for preserving regional security.
