The British Foreign Office announces that Stephen Conlon has been appointed His Majesty’s Ambassador to Turkmenistan in succession to Lucia Wilde who will be transferred to another Civil Service position.
Conlon will take up his appointment in May 2023.
Conlon has led the European Parliament team since 2022. He has worked on diplomatic missions to the EU, Estonia, and Sweden. He has represented the UK Trade and Investment Department in Finland. He has experience working in UN structures.
Reportedly, British companies such as De La Rue, Dragon Oil, Gaffney, and Cline & Associates operate in the Turkmen market.
The volume of trade with Great Britain has fallen to £42mn in 2022 from £123mn in 2011.
