The monthly French-language chess magazine named Uzbekistan the best chess country of the year.
Nobirbek Abdusattarov who came second in the Masters' group of the competition in Wake-an-Zee along with Javokhir Sindorov taking third place in the Challengers group both were awarded a special prize by the head of the publication Bakhar Kuatli after the Tata Steel Chess competition held in the Netherlands
In 2022, the men's national team of Uzbekistan won first place at the 44th World Chess Olympiad in Chennai, India. Overall, the Uzbek chess players won a total of 520 medals in prestigious international competitions that year.
