Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Energy on Saturday (December 3) on its telegram channel explained that the reason for natural gas scarcity lies in its production volume. In particular, in 2021 the Central Asian republic produced 200mn CBM less gas than expected.
Over 11 months of the current year, the country produced 5% less natural gas than the planned figure. In addition, experts extract 7.1% less gas than planned daily in existing fields mostly due to the depletion of gas resources and various accidents in the fields.
According to the agency, the pressure on the gas pipes is dramatically reduced due to the cold. In this case, gas is primarily directed to domestic consumers including residents and social facilities.
The Ministry of Energy said that relevant organizations are taking measures to increase natural gas production.
