Minister of Public Education Bakhtiyor Saidov calmed down the parents who were worried about the school uniform mandatory regulation.
According to the minister, in a new 2022 school year, parents will not be required to purchase a uniform, and no objections will be raised against students who do not come to school in a uniform.
Based on the Uzbek national values, it is not forbidden for girls and boys to come to school with a light-coloured national scarf wrapped around the back of the head.
It is also allowed to extend the length of the skirt and blouse sleeves of schoolgirls, but they cannot be shorter than the specified size.
Low-income families are provided by local governments with additional resources from the local budget, as well as funds from the "Iron Notebook", "Women's Notebook" and "Youth Notebook" funds to purchase school uniforms.
Sales of school uniforms will be organized starting from August at convenient places and school fairs in every district and city centre.
