The Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan has approved the decision to establish “The Khiva restoration school”. This was reported by the press secretary of the Minister of Tourism and Cultural Heritage.
The document stipulates attracting leading foreign experts with the support of UNESCO.
These are some stakeholders that will actively participate in the project:
- School activities include UNESCO;
- The International Council for the Protection of Monuments and Landmarks (IKOMOS);
- The International Research Center for the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage (IKKROM);
- The International Advisory Committee on Cultural Heritage Issues in Uzbekistan;
- "Silk Road" the International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage;
- Tashkent Institute of Architecture and Construction;
- National Institute of Painting and Design named after Kamoliddin Behzod
- Samarkand Institute of Architecture and Construction.
The main task:
- to organize training courses for relevant specialists and to make suggestions to the centre on attracting local and foreign specialists to these courses;
- to develop "master-student" traditions and conduct scientific research, as well as preparation of scientifically-practically based proposals for the implementation of new methods, materials and technologies, and best practices of foreign countries;
- to develop practical skills of trainees of professional development courses and assistance in the organization of preservation works in material cultural heritage objects with their participation;
- to organize scientific-practical seminars, conferences and other events with the participation of local and foreign experts in the field of preservation, as well as participation in the development of methodological manuals and popularization of best practices.
