Uzbekistan is exploring the establishment of a special warehouse at Pakistan’s Karachi Port to streamline exports and strengthen trade ties with South Asia, according to a statement from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The proposal was discussed during an official visit by a delegation of Uzbek entrepreneurs to Karachi Port on June 28, organized in cooperation with the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Pakistan. The visit aimed to enhance export logistics, identify new international market access points, and develop long-term cooperation mechanisms.
Karachi Port, the largest seaport in Pakistan, serves as a strategic gateway for cargo bound for Europe, Asia, America, and Africa. Given its regional importance, the port is considered a key transit hub for Uzbekistan, a double-landlocked country seeking expanded access to seaborne trade routes.
During the visit, the Uzbek delegation held talks with the port authority and leading logistics firms. Officials provided detailed information about port infrastructure, customs procedures, transit operations, and cargo handling systems. They confirmed the port is fully equipped to receive and process goods originating from Uzbekistan.

One of the key proposals that emerged was the creation of a special warehouse exclusively for Uzbek goods within the port zone. The initiative is expected to:
- Enable temporary storage and efficient shipping of Uzbek products
- Simplify transit and customs procedures
- Lower transportation and logistics costs
- Accelerate delivery to international markets
The Karachi Port administration expressed strong interest in Uzbek exports such as textiles, fresh and processed fruits and vegetables, leather goods, chemicals, and construction materials. Officials also briefed the entrepreneurs on digital customs systems, real-time cargo tracking technologies, and container handling capabilities.
“The visit to the port of Karachi was an important step in strengthening economic ties between the two countries and opening new export routes for Uzbek goods,” the Chamber of Commerce and Industry noted.
The Chamber confirmed that steps are already underway to bring this initiative to fruition.
The idea of leveraging Pakistani seaports for Uzbek trade is not new. In 2020, Pakistan expressed readiness to provide technical support and infrastructure access at its key ports—Gwadar, Karachi, and Qasim. By June 2022, Uzbekistan had successfully dispatched its first transit cargo to India via Karachi Port, marking a milestone in regional connectivity.
