The Uzbekistan national football team achieved a milestone by qualifying for the FIFA World Cup for the first time ever on June 5. The decisive match took place in the United Arab Emirates, where Uzbekistan faced the host nation in the 9th round of the 3rd qualifying round.

The game was tightly contested from the start. The first half ended 0-0 despite both teams creating several scoring opportunities.
The Uzbek players showed determination but were unable to capitalize on their chances. The intensity increased in the second half, with both sides pushing hard for a breakthrough.
In the 53rd minute, Abbosbek Fayzullaev headed a cross from Khojiakbar Alijonov, creating a strong scoring chance. However, the ball just missed the goal. Despite more attempts from both teams, the match ended in a goalless draw.
The 0-0 result was enough for Uzbekistan to secure their qualification to the World Cup 2026. This achievement marks a breakthrough for Uzbek football and brings pride and joy to fans across the nation.
Uzbekistan’s starting lineup included Utkir Yusupov, Abdukodir Khusanov, Khojiakbar Alijonov, Farrukh Sayfiev (substituted by Sherzod Nasrullaev in the 65th minute), Rustamjon Ashurmatov, Otabek Shukurov, Odiljon Hamrobekov (substituted by Khojimat Erkinov in the 85th), Jaloliddin Masharipov (substituted by Abdurauf Buriev in the 85th), Oston Urunov (substituted by Abbosbek Fayzullaev in the 14th), Eldor Shomurodov, and Husniddin Aliqulov.
The team’s bench featured Abduvohid Nematov, Botirali Ergashev, Akmal Mozgovoy, Jamshid Iskanderov, Abdulla Abdullaev, Azizbek Turgunboev, and Igor Sergeev.
The UAE team fielded Khalid Eisa, Lucas Pimenta, Kouame Autonne Kouadio, Abdullah Ramadan, Ali Saleh (substituted by Yahya Ali in the 62nd), Majid Hassan, Fabio Lima (substituted by Harib Abdalla in the 77th), Marcus Meloni, Caio Lucas, Khaled Ibrahim, Luan Pereira, and Caio Canedo. Their substitutes included Ali Khasif, Abdulla Hamad, Sasa Ivkovic, Mohammed Abdulbasit, Khalifa Mubarak, Bader Abaelaziz, Abdulrahman Saleh, Yahia Nader, and Bruno Oliveira.
The match saw two warnings issued: Husniddin Aliqulov of Uzbekistan received a yellow card in the 55th minute, and Caio Lucas of the UAE was cautioned in the 74th minute.
