Uzbek grandmaster Nodirbek Abdusattorov took place in the 2026 Prague International Chess Festival which concluded in Prague, Czech Republic, on March 6 with the ninth and final round of matches.
Abdusattorov finished the tournament in first place with six points. In the final round, playing with the white pieces, he faced American grandmaster Hans Niemann. The match ended in a draw, which secured Abdusattorov’s position at the top of the standings.
Abdusattorov’s closest competitor for the title, Dutch grandmaster Jorden van Foreest, lost his final-round game against Iranian player Parham Maghsoodloo. The result ensured Abdusattorov’s victory in the tournament. Even if van Foreest had drawn his game, Abdusattorov would still have finished in first place. A win for the Dutch player would have resulted in a tie and the possibility of tie-break matches.
Another Uzbek grandmaster, Nodirbek Yakubboev, also recorded a victory in the final round. Playing with the black pieces, Yakubboev defeated German grandmaster Vincent Keymer. With this result, Yakubboev finished the tournament in fourth place with 4.5 points.
Abdusattorov’s victory marked his second title at the Prague International Chess Festival. According to the tournament results, he became the first player in the history of the event to win the championship twice.
