Uzbekistan recorded 24,815 divorces during the first six months of 2026, an increase of nearly 1,500 cases compared with the same period last year, while the number of registered marriages fell by around 3,000, according to the National Statistics Committee.
The divorce rate stood at 1.3 per 1,000 people during the reporting period. By comparison, 23,338 divorces were registered in the first half of 2025.
Meanwhile, 92,300 marriages were officially registered between January and June 2026, equivalent to 4.9 marriages per 1,000 people. The total was around 3,000 lower than in the corresponding period of last year.
More than 60% of divorces were recorded in urban areas, accounting for around 14,900 cases, while rural areas registered approximately 9,900 divorces, or 39.9% of the total.
Among the regions, Tashkent city recorded the highest number of divorces with 3,222 cases, followed by Fergana (2,676), Samarkand (2,608) and Andijan (2,471). The lowest figure was reported in Navoi region, where 673 divorces were registered.
Uzbekistan registered 46,914 divorces in 2025. According to an analysis of divorce cases, the most common reasons cited were incompatibility between spouses, entering another marital relationship, lack of preparedness for family life, and mutual distrust.
