A delegation from Uzbekistan's Migration Agency visited Italy to advance agreements on labor migration and medical cooperation, including the employment of Uzbek healthcare professionals in Tuscany and the development of joint training programs with Italian institutions.
The visit was organized as part of the implementation of agreements reached during the July 14 meeting between President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Tuscany Governor Eugenio Giani.
During the visit, Migration Agency Director Bekhzod Musayev met with Governor Giani to discuss practical measures for implementing previously agreed initiatives. The talks focused on the employment of Uzbek doctors and nurses in medical institutions across the Tuscany region.
During the meeting, Governor Giani emphasized the importance of international cooperation.
"History shows that nations achieve progress when they cooperate and learn from each other," he said.
The Uzbek delegation also held talks with Riccardo Zucco, Rector of the University of Pisa. Following the meeting, the sides signed an agreement to develop a joint educational program aimed at preparing specialists intending to work in Italy.
According to the agreement, the program will train medical professionals in line with Italian healthcare standards while also providing Italian language instruction to participants.
As part of the visit, the delegation toured the construction site of the new University Hospital of the University of Pisa, where Uzbek medical specialists are expected to be employed in the future.
The parties also discussed opportunities to organize practical training for Uzbek personnel at the hospital and explored prospects for further cooperation in the healthcare sector.
