Uzbekistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a set of recommendations for citizens planning to attend the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The guidance urges supporters to carefully review the entry, visa and migration requirements of the host countries before departure and ensure that all necessary travel documents are obtained and remain valid throughout the trip.
The ministry also advised travelers to keep both original and backup copies of passports and other important documents, including electronic and paper versions, in case of loss or emergency.
Fans were encouraged to familiarize themselves with local laws and public order regulations, plan travel routes in advance and use only official transportation and information services. Authorities also recommended taking precautions in crowded areas during the tournament.
The Foreign Ministry additionally called on supporters to avoid participating in unauthorized public gatherings and reminded citizens that, in the event of emergencies, lost documents or other difficulties, they may seek assistance from local emergency services and Uzbekistan's diplomatic missions in the United States.
Officials urged fans to represent Uzbekistan positively while supporting the national team, emphasizing the importance of respecting the laws, customs and traditions of the host countries.
According to the ministry, major international events such as the FIFA World Cup attract increased attention to participating countries and their citizens. As a result, Uzbek supporters traveling abroad should remember that they serve as informal representatives of their country.
The ministry said the protection of citizens' safety and legal interests remains a priority and confirmed its readiness to provide consular and legal assistance when necessary.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico, making it the first tournament to be held across three countries. The competition is also set to become the largest in the event's history, featuring 48 national teams.
Uzbekistan secured qualification for the FIFA World Cup for the first time in its history in June 2025, marking a major milestone for the country's football development and generating significant interest among supporters planning to attend the tournament.
