Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin held a meeting with Ukraine’s Deputy Foreign Minister Oleksandr Mishchenko to discuss the development of bilateral economic relations, as to the Kazakh government’s press service.
The talks focused on prospects for strengthening trade and economic cooperation, as well as the possible resumption of the Interstate Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation between the two countries. Both sides reviewed current areas of collaboration and identified opportunities to expand engagement.
Particular attention was given to cooperation in the agro-industrial sector, which remains a key area of bilateral interaction. Dairy farms in several regions of Kazakhstan have been working with Ukraine’s Association of Milk Producers on the supply of breeding dairy cattle and the training of Kazakh specialists in dairy farm management.
Trade data was also discussed during the meeting. In 2025, trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Ukraine reached $415.8mn, marking a 5.4% increase compared to $394.3mn in 2024.
Kazakhstan’s main exports to Ukraine include ferroalloys, fertilizers, and rice. In turn, Ukraine exports products such as chocolate and other cocoa-based goods, flour confectionery, pharmaceuticals, and dairy products, including cheese and cottage cheese.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to intensify business contacts, consider reactivating the Interstate Commission, and expand cooperation in priority sectors, with a particular focus on the agro-industrial complex.
