Eurasian Economic Union member states and observers convened in Kazakhstan for a high-level meeting, according to the press service of the Kazakh government, to discuss economic integration, consumer protection, and digital cooperation.
A meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in an expanded format was held in Shymkent under the chairmanship of Olzhas Bektenov, bringing together senior officials from member and observer states.
The session focused on advancing cooperation within the Eurasian Economic Union, including plans to approve regulations for the creation of Eurasian technological platforms, adopt a joint action program on consumer protection, and review reports on the macroeconomic situation and the development of an integrated information system.
Participants included Alexander Turchin, Adylbek Kasymaliev, Mikhail Mishustin, and Mher Grigoryan, along with Bakytzhan Sagintayev.
Representing observer states, Abdulla Aripov took part in the meeting, alongside Cuba’s Deputy Prime Minister Oscar Perez-Oliva Fraga and Iran’s Ambassador to Kazakhstan Ali Akbar Jowkar.
In 2025, it was reported that the Eurasian Economic Commission had backed Kazakhstan-led measures on timber tracking, trade certificates, vehicle exemptions, and aviation fuel tariffs, supporting deeper regional coordination.
