Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov reaffirmed his country’s support for the activities of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe during a meeting with Secretary General Feridun Sinirlioglu in Bishkek, according to Anatoly Agency.
The talks focused on strengthening cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the OSCE, including the potential expansion of the organization’s project presence in the country to implement joint initiatives. Japarov highlighted the importance of OSCE efforts aimed at confidence-building in border regions of Central Asia and promoting long-term peace.
The Kyrgyz leader also pointed to the active exchange of visits between Kyrgyz and OSCE delegations, as well as the effective work of the OSCE Program Office in Bishkek. Currently, the organization is implementing 22 projects in Kyrgyzstan, including initiatives such as the OSCE Academy in Bishkek, covering multiple sectors.
During the meeting, Japarov also addressed broader global developments, expressing concern over ongoing tensions, including the situation in the Middle East. Both sides emphasized the importance of resolving disputes through peaceful dialogue and cooperation.
As part of his visit, Sinirlioglu also held talks with Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubayev, further underlining ongoing diplomatic engagement between Kyrgyzstan and the OSCE.
It was previously reported that Kyrgyzstan is expanding cooperation with the OSCE and partners such as the Eurasian Development Bank and the United Nations Development Program to develop an SME support program through 2030, focused on financing, digitalization, export promotion, and innovation.
