President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was briefed on March 25, on ongoing work in the oil and gas sector aimed at stabilizing production volumes and developing new reserves, presidential press service informs.
During the briefing, information was presented on natural gas production dynamics within the Uzbekneftegaz system, including factors contributing to production declines and measures taken to address them. In the first quarter of 2026, additional production volumes were achieved through the commissioning of new wells, repairs to existing wells, and technological interventions. These measures are planned to be expanded throughout the year.
Particular attention was given to the introduction of modern technologies to improve well efficiency. Work is underway to identify prospective areas for new 2D and 3D seismic surveys. Measures have also been outlined to strengthen oversight of drilling and field operations in line with international standards, including the implementation of supervision systems, geological and hydrodynamic modeling, and further development of production programs.
The discussion also covered increasing gas recovery rates at existing fields, applying new approaches to hard-to-recover reserves, and assessing the economic viability of planned programs for 2026–2027. These efforts are being carried out in cooperation with international companies.
The president emphasized the need to maintain production stability, ensure efficient use of existing capacities, and organize geological exploration and drilling activities systematically. Expanding partnerships with foreign companies focused on practical outcomes was also highlighted.
Relevant officials were instructed to monitor the implementation of these measures and ensure progress across all areas.
