Uzbekistan is set to introduce a new artificial intelligence–powered digital platform that will centralize information on the country’s scientific and research infrastructure, aiming to improve efficiency, transparency, and data-driven management across the science and innovation sector.
The platform, being developed by the Agency for Innovative Development, will serve as a unified national database covering laboratories, research facilities, and scientific equipment used by institutions engaged in research and innovation activities.
By applying AI-based analytics, the system will forecast and optimize the use of scientific infrastructure, helping reduce duplicated spending, save time and resources, and ensure more effective utilization of laboratories across different regions. Officials say this approach will allow existing capacities to be matched more precisely with research needs.
Specialists note that the platform is expected to improve the quality of scientific research by enabling evidence-based planning and minimizing redundant investments. It will also make it easier to identify underused facilities and promote broader access to research infrastructure nationwide.
In addition, the platform is designed to strengthen openness and cooperation within the scientific community by providing clearer visibility of available resources and encouraging collaboration between institutions.
The AI-powered system is scheduled to go live in December this year, marking a significant step toward building a digitally integrated research ecosystem in Uzbekistan.
The initiative builds on a broader push to strengthen science and innovation in Uzbekistan. In 2025, the Academy of Sciences reported a sharp rise in research output and commercialization, with close to 200 doctoral theses defended, more than 1,500 academic publications released, dozens of patents secured, and nearly $5 mn in exports generated from scientific products, underscoring the sector’s expanding economic role.
