President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a report on the progress of the ongoing population and agricultural census, which is being conducted from January 15 to February 28, 2026, as per to presidential press service on January 19.
The census aims to provide scientifically grounded data for demographic analysis, regional development, labor force planning, and the management of social infrastructure across the country.
The census is conducted in two stages. The first stage, from January 15 to 31, allows citizens to participate through a dedicated online system, while the second stage, from February 4 to 28, involves door-to-door canvassing by employees of the “mahalla seven” using tablets.
The online platform for the census is the portal census.stat.uz, where participants log in through the OneID system. All data collection is monitored using a geographic information system, with geolocation data compiled for over 7.6mn households and residential properties nationwide. Specialized dashboards have been developed to track the process in real time.
Confidentiality and data protection are being ensured in accordance with legal requirements, with all personal information used exclusively for statistical purposes.
To ensure the census is conducted efficiently, 14 regional headquarters and 208 district and city headquarters have been established. Approximately 60,000 census takers have been trained for the process, including 54,000 representatives of the “mahalla seven,” 2,600 reserve staff, and 4,000 members of territorial headquarters. Additional support includes 480 trainers from ministries and agencies and 3,200 volunteers from higher education institutions.
Public awareness campaigns have been implemented extensively. This includes the production of 110 explanatory videos, 600 television spots, 6,300 informational materials on social media, and more than 23,000 materials placed in public areas and on transportation.
As per to official data, 2.48mn households, along with 31,000 farms and agricultural enterprises, have already participated in the census through the special portal.
President Mirziyoyev emphasized the importance of ensuring the quality and reliability of the population and agricultural census and highlighted the need to use the collected data effectively for informed decision-making.
