Uzbekistan has announced plans to construct a national pavilion with a total area of 3,600 square meters for the EXPO 2030 World Exhibition, which will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The announcement was made by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during a presentation reviewing the outcomes of international cultural events, outlining upcoming priorities for tourism sector development, and discussing the construction of major cultural and tourism facilities. During the presentation, it was confirmed that preparations for Uzbekistan’s participation in EXPO 2030 have officially begun.
The meeting also reviewed the results of Uzbekistan’s participation in the EXPO 2025 World Exhibition in Japan. Uzbekistan’s pavilion, titled “Knowledge Park,” covered an area of 1,200 square meters and attracted approximately one million visitors over the course of the exhibition. According to officials, the pavilion’s exhibits received extensive international attention and ranked among the most visited at the event. At the World EXPO in Osaka, the Uzbek pavilion was awarded a gold medal in the category “Best Disclosure of the Theme,” the highest distinction in its classification.
In June 2025, Elmurod Najimov, who at the time served as First Deputy Chairman of the Foundation for the Development of Culture and Arts and currently holds the position of Deputy Head of the Department for Creative Economy and Tourism within the Presidential Administration, stated during the “Lolazor” podcast filmed in Japan that all materials from the Uzbekistan pavilion would be transported back to the country. In October 2025, Head of the Presidential Administration Saida Mirziyoyeva announced that the pavilion would be relocated from Osaka to Nukus, where it would become part of a planned creative park.
Saudi Arabia will host the World EXPO 2030 in its capital, Riyadh. The exhibition is scheduled to take place from October 1, 2030, to March 31, 2031.
In August 2025, an Uzbek delegation visited the pavilion of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where the concept for EXPO 2030 Riyadh was presented. According to the Foundation for the Development of Culture and Arts, the visit provided an opportunity for the Uzbek side to familiarize itself with the host country’s plans for the exhibition and to discuss potential areas of cooperation in preparation for EXPO 2030.
