A new Uzbek-French University will be established in Tashkent, following a presidential resolution signed on November 26. The university will operate in accordance with Uzbek legislation and the recommendations of the Consortium of French Universities.
Initially, the university will offer master’s degree programs, with plans to expand to bachelor’s and doctoral degrees in the future. A preparatory course for university entrance will also be introduced to support student readiness.
Education at the university will be provided through a combination of state-funded targeted grants and tuition-based contracts. Graduates will receive diplomas from the Uzbek-French University and, where applicable, from participating French universities within the accredited consortium. These diplomas will be officially recognized in Uzbekistan.
The plan to create the Uzbek-French University was first announced in March 2024. At that time, Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovations Kongratbay Sharipov met with the then-French Ambassador Aurelia Bouchez to discuss collaboration in higher education, professional training, science, and innovation. Topics included university establishment, curriculum development, educational programs, and recruitment of faculty.
In April 2025, discussions continued, confirming that the university would be located on the campus of Tashkent State Technical University.
