Tajikistan has taken a step toward transforming its education system by equipping teachers with essential digital skills. From April 15 to 18, 2025, over 35 in-service teachers, education experts, and institutional representatives gathered in Dushanbe for the second national pilot workshop on the ICT Competency Standards for Teachers (ICT-CST).

Held at the Serena Hotel and jointly organized by the Ministry of Education and Science and UNESCO, the training was funded by the European Union through the project “Strengthening Competency-Based and ICT-Enabled STEM and VET Education and Teacher Training in Tajikistan.”
The four-day workshop aimed to enhance teachers’ capacity to integrate digital tools into their teaching practice, in line with Tajikistan’s broader strategy for educational digitalization. The ICT-CST framework, formally adopted in March 2024, outlines three levels of digital proficiency for teachers—Beginner, Integrator, and Innovator—supporting the country’s National Road Map for the Digitalization of the Education System and the National ICT Program for 2023–2027.
Participants engaged in interactive sessions on lesson planning, digital assessment, and the use of AI-powered platforms such as ChatGPT. The training emphasized inclusive teaching, collaborative learning, and real-world applications, drawing on global education models such as TPACK and Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
Post-training feedback was overwhelmingly positive. A survey showed that 92% of participants found the workshop “very useful,” particularly praising sessions on AI and digital lesson design. Many expressed readiness to apply their new skills immediately in the classroom.
Importantly, more than 85% of attendees expressed interest in becoming ICT-CST facilitators or mentors, signaling strong momentum for scaling the initiative nationwide. Participants also called for continued support, localized resources, and peer collaboration networks.
