Uzbekistan has identified 14,728 cases of illegal waste dumping in the first six months of 2025, as the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change continues its crackdown on environmental violations through enhanced surveillance and monitoring systems.
According to official data, 5,215 cases were detected through the Ministry’s Situation Center, which operates a network of 250 online surveillance cameras across the country.
These cameras focus on high-risk areas such as unauthorized landfills, residential outskirts, coastal zones, and public spaces, providing real-time monitoring of illegal dumping of solid household, construction, and liquid waste.
Regional data shows that the Namangan region recorded the highest number of violations with 1,563 incidents, followed by Andijan with 1,443 cases and Fergana with 1,163.
The Ministry issued a total of 14,728 administrative violation reports under Article 91 of Uzbekistan’s Code of Administrative Responsibility. This article prohibits the unauthorized disposal of various types of waste. As a result, UZS 7.9bn ($629,305) in fines were levied nationwide, with UZS 3.3bn ($262,874) already collected.
Officials emphasize that maintaining ecological safety requires the active participation of all citizens.
“Waste must be disposed of only in designated areas,” the Ministry stated. “Only through collective responsibility can we ensure environmental cleanliness and contribute to the sustainable development of our country.”
